It makes the approach by Black the obviously biggest move on the board, and White does not get a move of such value. In other words, the "trick" in Go is creating miai, and this move does not create miai.
A good system naturally covers all corner cases without further effort.

To Violence:
++ on creating the same corner position as the joaz/araban game
I'm interested to see how these identical corners simultaneously play out w/ different board positions and players. That's one thing I'm trying to work on, remembering the whole board impact of joseki (and not blindly playing what I know, if it might hurt my overall board position). If nothing else, this will serve as a good reminder.
