Gold Coast Go Club

Post by Annihilist »

Does anyone here frequent the Gold Coast club? I'm in Byron and I'm considering taking a trip up there for a day. Can anyone give me an idea of the format of the meetups, or how they are organised?

Cheers

They meet monthly at the Gold Coast Country Club clubhouse. People just turn up after lunch on the last Sunday of the month and play until the clubhouse closes. The convenor (Yoko) has a small stash of go boards; players range from 20k to 3d, numbers are low but consistent. Usually the December meeting isn't on due to colliding with Christmas, and one of the other meetings has the club's annual tournament in it - three rounds rapid.

I reckon you could make a day trip of it if you found something interesting to do around Helensvale for the morning.

I turn up three or four times a year, because I live in Redcliffe.

It's roughly an hours drive from here, I think.

Cool, thanks for the info
