Re: Aji's Quest
I propose a second thread, dedicated to news of new pages or important announcements from the author?
Perhaps the admins can sticky it and give inkwolf exclusive rights to update it.
This one can be used for discussion.

Re: Aji's Quest
I wouldn't think you'd need mod approval to open a discussion thread in General Go Chat or something, and leave this one for updates, since people who want updates have already subscribed to this thread.

That's odd. Maybe the picture hosting site was down.
If it continues not to work, you can see them where I uploaded them here: http://inkwolf.deviantart.com/gallery/
I've been wondering if DeviantArt might disallow remote linking at some point, then I'll have to get an actual file hosting service and change all my pages.

Re: Aji's Quest
I figured our the problem. I was trying to view them from school, and my school has a content filter that was blocking the image site, but not your site. I'll just read it when I get home.

I'm excited!and I know a certain German Go forum where people are also excitedly waiting for GoRo, who closely watches the “Aji’s Quest” page, to tell ’em when the story is continued.
Thanks, Bonobo, for having pointed me to this forum lifein19x19.
So, finally, I am a bit nearer to inkwolf - hello *wave hands*!
Hello inkwolf!
In that German Go forum mentioned by Bonobo, we tentatively try to translate
pieces of this truly marvellous story.
I was glad to see your remark about getting into the right mood via
re-reading HnG. While in HnG there is a great deal of "guardianism" I am
very much pleased by (Aji's Quest)'s way of displaying the very game of Go
and the feelings that are connected to playing it.
We discussed at length the last words of Tesuji Tiger in sequence #60
One of us (a 4d by the way) chose this as his favorite quotationTesuji Tiger wrote:I'm not a guardian. I have a life.
One might be tempted to see a witty double meaning in the word "life" here.
For a proper translation into German it would be nice to take care of this,
but I am by no means convinced that there is more to it than the simple meaning
as expressed in "get a life!".
I really wish to have the story translated into German. For this lovely
"to be clam-tinued" I found an adequate translation which plays on the
word "Fortsetzung" (continuation). I'm using a contraction of "Fortsetzen"
(to continue) and "Zug" (move). So the common phrase "Fortsetzung folgt"
becomes

I want to ask you for permission to use your story Aji's Quest
as a teaching aid. I am expecting a little bit of money for my
teaching activities and I'd like to pay a fair share via PayPal.
I would be glad to receive an email by you, inkwolf: r.rosenthal@web.de
I will print it and hang it on the wall
Yours truly and cheering
Rainer

Re: Aji's Quest
Hi, GoRo!
Thanks, it's good to know I have fans in Germany! And thanks for the link, my German isn't as good as I'd like, but I was able to understand a lot of it.
I wish I could say it was a clever Go pun, but I didn't even think of the double meaning. You are right, it was meant to imply "I have better things to do," with a heavy dose of contempt. (Apparently the readers are more clever with wordplay than I am!)
Bonobo was closer with the "Was ist los mit DIR?" translation, though. And I enjoyed everyone's attempts to translate the 'Holes' clue! If you guys do work out a complete translation, I could probably manage to host it on the site. (And give you credit, of course!)
I'm perfectly happy for anyone to use Aji's Quest for teaching or spreading Go or advertising their Go clubs.
And I will gladly write you an e-mail!

I had Algebra in high school, and I did pass, but I have happily forgotten all of it since then.

Fun stuff, GoRo is leading a team to translate Aji into German. ^^
Meanwhile, I have finally got my new Android tablet and tempted fate by paying for ElyGo and a few other apps, so I may be melding with the tablet for a little bit...production may slow down.

Love the comic! Well done. I like Master Tenuki's words on page 80, very Zen/Taoist in spirit.

Dear inkwolf,
many thanks for these truly enjoyable first eighty pages.
How nice that production slowed down.
How so? Wasn't I one of these keyboard-junkies, klicking
and klicking in hope for the next adventures of Aji?
Here comes the easy explanation: this enabled me to
do a first raw translation into German. Friends from KGS and
from DGoB helped with suggestions and hints, corrections and
warnings, and will continue doing so.
So I proudly present: AjiGerman (pages 1-80, PDF, 7.5 MB)
Cheers,
Rainer
