Wow, this is incredible. What made you decide to get all of this stuff? Did you already have the tatami mats? And how long can you sit seiza for

Open the photo in your main photo-viewer application. There should be a "Tools -> adjust size" option

Another way to make the pictures compact, until you click them, would be to use "Hide" tags from the compose editor.

Is anyone having trouble seeing the pictures in this page? My browser sputters, and never seems to be able to open them. I get the "image unable to load" graphic instead of any image.

Edit: Oh, wait, they're loading now. Those are huge pictures!

I was in Japan for just under 4 years and decided rather than buy a bunch of tourist junk that I'll never look at again, I'd instead get something that can be appreciated for generations. It took me a couple of years to find a hobby but once I got into Go I caught the bug and this was it

I picked up the chairs and Tatami from http://www.chopa.com, they had a platform for the mats on clearance so it worked out well. I commissioned the scroll from http://www.orientaloutpost.com/

The kyosoku, pillows and equipment came from Japan. Mr. Bozulich and Kuroki-san were very helpful in finding good equipment (both highly recommended!). The arrangement was inspired by the Yugen no ma.

As for seiza...well depending on the day I can manage between 20 - 60 minutes though I usually just sit on my side and lean again the kyosoku (much more comfortable).

Nope

It wouldn't be the first time someone preferred a chair. Though I find leaning against the kyosoku (arm rests) to be more comfortable anyway.

Erythen, your setup is beautiful. :tmbup:

It would be nice to have go friends over and play while chatting over the board.

I hope this works... My dining room table got drafted to be my go area. We never eat there anyway, so that's all get used for.

Thanks. Yes, my friend bought them from Mr. Kuroki couple of years ago while visiting Japan. The bowls are Karin, Keyaki or Sakura (he's not sure, he bought 3-sets at that time and has forgotten how to identify each :roll:

) The stones are size-34 standard grade.

Maybe Karin. If you look under the bottom of each bowl,
there may be a "signature" character/logo of the crafts-person.
If that person only makes a particular type (Karin, Keyaki, or Sakura),
then you can identify the wood. Mr. Kuroki would mostly likely be able
to identify it for you if you email him the above photo alone (or two).
