Okay. Thanks for the help GO is not a dreadfully well known game in Muncie, Indiana. At least not to my knowledge.

I have thought about that before. I purchased a go ban with two inch feet. I thought it was cool and had a louder sound, but it wasn't all that accepted at the local go club. Go players generally prefer quiet.
Recently I built a headboard for a bed, from a slab of live edge walnut. I was thinking something similar would do well for a go board, especially if it had really figured grain.

I would build a solid board but this is going to be one for personal use. Btw anybody know where i could get a resonable deal on stones nothing extravagant but function for beginners on a 100 usd total budget japanese are preferred but i`ll take what i can get

Okay thanks for the suggestion i`m quite new to the game and this isn`t really a well known game where I live, well let it suffice to say that a decent chess player is an oddity as well.
