Go board bitmaps
Some software allows you to use your own bitmap for the go board. Does anyone have any favorites or suggestions on sites that may have some images?

Re: Go board bitmaps
I like this one that someone on KGS made and which I've uploaded to OGS as a custom background:

Nice and asymmetric, lots of character!

If it has to be wood you could try Wood Workshop, a free (as in free beer) software for Windows that lets you generate wooden tiles with a lot of different effects.

Spruce/shinkaya?
Possibly so. I purchased it from Yellow Mountain on ebay before I was knowledgeable about such things, and no longer have the receipt. It does seem to have a rather wide grain compared to images of genuine Kaya boards.
Real Kaya or not, I think it is beautiful, and won the auction for much less than they sell their boards currently, so I am happy.

Re: Go board bitmaps
Hello,
for a small project (creating a Go board print file) I’ve been looking for nice “original” hyuga kaya pictures without the grid, to no avail, then I found this thread, but alas, the resolutions of the images found here are too low for good print quality larger than thumbnail.
I like the colour and grain of the image posted by danielfox (from the bottom of your table board) very much but this, also, is too small.
Also, I know nothing of the wood qualities.
Ideally, I’d use something the size of 5.000 x 5.000 px, but even if it were something like 2K x 2K pixels I’d be happy … it should just be the “naked” wood, no grid on it. And ideally it would be the bestest wood quality (grain, colour) used for Real Life gobans
Any ideas where to find such?
When—IF I ever get this done I’d be happy to share the results for everybody to use (CC license or something, no commercial use). One idea I have for using this is to print this enlarged on magnet foil (expensive) or perhaps on adhesive PVC foil and stick that to a magnetic board (probably cheaper). This would be a square board. And another version could be Real Life scale board (something like 424.2 mm x 454.5 mm) to print on large scale paper and laminate, or also on PVC foil … many ideas.
So, do you know of some beautiful hi-rez hyuga kaya (or which is “the best”?) photos I could use?
Thanks in advance, Tom

It seemed to me that this discussion ought to be a bit more permanent: http://senseis.xmp.net/?BoardImages
