Two 3rensei games

Post by tekesta »

Hello again. My apologies if I am posting won games again. In this particular case I would like to know where the opponent could've complicated things. Gloating and saying it was a one-sided contest won't do me any good :geek:

In these two games, I used a sanrensei opening. I have not yet mastered this opening, but I've been attempting the best use of its advantages. Some of you here have more experience with this kind of opening, so your input would be greatly appreciated.

Here, early on Black attempted to invade the môyô at just the right point in order to make use of the outward wall on the top left. Is there a chance that Black 23 at G10 did not have enough of an impact on White? Shortly afterwards White obtained a large swath of territory on the left side and in a good part of the lower center. Was this a price I had to pay for playing an influence-oriented game? Or was it an avoidable result?

I wonder if No. 73 at M3 or M4 instead of O5 would've been a better play, even though it would just drive White into the center and so enlarge it. As well, White could've used the L10 stone to puncture Black's upper part môyô and eventually make a living group therein. Eventually White did invade, but the resulting reduction wasn't as large as it would've been had it occurred earlier in the game. For a moment, I thought White had won the game, but in the end Black won by 2.5 pts.

Here, the beginning was more or less like that of the previous game. Later in the game, White invaded and attempted to make a living group at the top, but it was unsuccessful. Surprisingly, White did not secure life for the corner group on the bottom right. I ask myself if letting White have a large part of the bottom and a large group on the right side was the right thing to do in an influence-oriented game. (Looks to me like some kind of furikawari.) Black won by 28.5 pts. Much obliged in advance for your kind comments.

It does not matter if you win or lose. DDK games will always be a bag full of mess. You can give here any games you want - there are always mistakes to fix. I made a few comments up to move #60 (game #1 with B+2.5).

White lost the first game by the gote hane at J19. Descending at N19 instead would have won by a couple of points. J19 and T15 were miai so the game hinged on the play at N19.
