Quick question, and I apologize if this was answered else where. What programs would you all suggest for viewing/creating a SGF with comments and what not, in particular on a mac. I think I had a program called Goban? or something similar in the past. Could someone suggest the best program and let me know where to DL it. Thanks a bunch!

Goban is good for playing against GnuGo, or for viewing plain SGF files, but files with mark-up don't always display correctly. And it's always crashed for me when I try to actually use any of the editing tools.

The KGS CGoban program is good for viewing and editing files. (At least I think so...I never actually edited any.) It's Java, so it's cross-platform.

Pandanet has an SGF editor, too, but I never tried it out.

Afraid I can't tell you which is the best, though. I don't do much file editing.

Yeah, Goban has gotten old in the tooth, sadly.
I use CGoban for editing and experimenting with my DGS games.
A new (free) editor is GoWrite, also Java, therefore cross-platform, haven’t played with it yet.

Don't forget about editing raw SGF text. Vim or sublime2 also work very well:)
After finishing the edit, you can use any simple online SGF viewer to verify.

i've tried a bunch and so far, jago and the kgs client are the best for editing sgf files on the os x platform.

Re: SGF reviewer/creator for Mac
I must also add that Sente Goban is now back under active development, but as a paid app., available from the Apple store. SGF viewing/editing is marginally better than the old free version, but it still has a few bugs to be sorted out (e.g.: comments don't display correctly in SGF files). The developers seem very enthusiastic though and I expect this to be a really polished app. very soon.
