This is a fantastic documentary, even if you don't play chess. I thoroughly enjoyed the film. It would be great to see the same type of documentary on a flourishing Go club in a school.

BROOKLYN CASTLE tells the stories of five members of the chess team at a below-the-poverty-line inner city junior high school that has won more national championships than any other in the country. The film follows the challenges these kids face in their personal lives as well as on the chessboard, and is as much about the sting of their losses as it is about the anticipation of their victories.

Re: Brooklyn Castle
Agreed. I saw it in April with a theater full of high school students. They were enraptured by the story.
The closest full length feature we'll soon have is "The Surrounding Game" but that seems more of an about/documentary than a story/documentary. We'll see how it shapes up in the editing
