You do not need much territory if your opponent has none.

Thanks!
Well, this one is self paired AGA rated games, so, as many matches as I can fit in, really. (though I prefer a more traditional tournament, I'm totally fine with self paired)
The time isn't mentiioned but most tournaments I've been to have a 30 or 40 minute per person so That's what I'm expecting.

30-40 minutes in total or just main time? 45 minutes - 1 hour main times + 5 x 20 or 30 seconds are the most common formats I've seen here.

30 or 40 minutes main time, +5 30 second byo yomi.
I don't think I've ever seen a tournament without byo yomi, though I've only been to a couple.

You'd have byo or some kind of overtime usually. But normally you'd know how long the average game will last, so 30 + 5 x 30 will work out around 40-45 minutes thinking time per player for most people at most and maybe an hour in a few cases with a slow player who's good at playing in byo. If it was 3 x 30 or 5 x 20 you'd expect shorter games. Really it matters for tournament organisers being absolutely sure every game finishes before a round ends, so if you expect 1 hour each thinking time, you have around 2.5 hours apart minimum to account for slower players who can manage time well. 3 hours would be better but some venues can be quite problematic if you're trying to fit in five 3 hour rounds over two days. And since you normally can't start the next round before the last one has finished and some venues will kick you out boards and all at a specific time, you really want to avoid this.

Obviously this is more of an issue for smaller tournaments than larger ones which tend to have more control over their venues.

Did you guys not read the tournament info link?
There are no rounds. Its a self-pair tournament - plays as many games as you like and can get paired with.

I was responding to him mentioning the time limits in his previous tournaments. 30 minutes sounded very short to me.

u_u;;;
I feel horrible, I think I may have to stay home at this rate.

30 minutes seems to be standard for the most part, It's what most people seem to like to play on KGS, so I've gotten used to it. but, I really prefer 40 minutes+.
Go isn't a game I need a time limit for, though. I can play the same game for hours.
