Where to purchase the following books

Post by tekesta »

I would like to purchase the following books, but they seem rather difficult to find. Anyone here know where they can be purchased?

本因坊秀策全集

本因坊秀栄全集

Much obliged in advance.

Your best bet is Akashiya bookstore. If they don't have it some other private sellers on amazon.co.jp may have it.

http://www.akasiya-shoten.com

http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_ ... Caps%2C406

This is not what you asked but you can get less complete but good books covering both from https://e-gobooks.nihonkiin.or.jp . The unfortunate part has been reading in a browser for these books, but it is a significant savings.

If you need the most complete collection of Honinbo Shuei, you'd need to find your own copy of the following: 完本 本因坊秀栄全集 (全4巻)
VERY difficult and expensive to obtain.

I can't seem to get on the GoGOD site at the moment. I get an 'Access Denied (403)' error from the site so I can't check how many games of Shuei there are currently on their latest edition. But the above Japanese version has 292 games which is the most complete set of Honinbo Shuei's games as far as I know.

When I remember correctly gogod.co.uk is being worked at and remains down until the new design (?) is done.

GoGoD Summer 2012 has 176 games of "Honinbo Shuei".

We have all his games, but some are under his other names - a policy we follow with all players. The Names Dictionary tells you all the names.

I still prefer paper. I spend so much time behind the monitor these days that my eyes are practically strained. Even bright white paper does not produce so much glare for my eyes, unless it's in direct light :)

I'll obtain 本因坊秀策全集 first. The games therein should be good to replay and, judgeing from my experience, games by Shūsaku are usually easier to obtain than those by Shūei. (The word out on the street is that Shūei's games are studied widely by pros, so game collections by this player can be very difficult to obtain.) Or I could just get the Shūei book instead and learn from that first. I'm figuring that the Shūsaku book would be better since it has more games, hence more material for me to internalize.

I might order the book from dangdang.com, but I'll have to find out the cost of shipping to the US.

Well, last Friday I purchased 本因坊秀栄全集 from JD.com. It should arrive some time before the end of the month. I did not have enough money for the 2-vol. set 本因坊秀策全集, so I'll purchase it in the future.

In any case I prefer to just buy the book. I find it inconvenient to replay games from diagrams on my PC screen and if someone else wishes to use the PC, then I can't replay anything. With a book, I can replay anywhere. All I have to do is open it up and take out my weiqi set.
