Hi folks,
Does anyone know of archival footage or old media involving Go? There are tons of paintings, books, poems, and ancient printed material featuring Go, but I'm curious if anyone remembers seeing old broadcast video of Go Seigen or the first Ing Cup or something like that. In pictures of big tournaments and award ceremonies, there are always video cameras, so it has to exist somewhere. Maybe BadukTV's archives, or at the Nihon Ki-in?
Full disclosure - this is related to the Surrounding Game documentary film project. We'd like to incorporate some original footage from 20th century Go events. Thoughts?

the Seattle Go Center has lots of VHS tapes on their library shelves. The labels are Japanese, so I can't really tell you what's on them. Maybe when I get back from LA, I can post photos so you can browse.

Vintage footage of go in San Francisco, might be relevant for the Go in the US angle.

Awesome link above! We'll try to get in touch with the Seattle Go Center to see what's in their archive. CCTV in China would be a terrific resource also, so we'll reach out to them and see what additional old black-and-white footage they have.
