Courses for kids
My daughters (5 and 7) seem interested in Go and can play a bit. They've solved a few hundred problems on GoChild between them and seem to enjoy it. This year I setup a private school for them, so I've got quite a bit of liberty in selecting curriculum. I think it'd be neat to give them ~2 hours a week of Go class.
Any suggestions on curriculum for kids, or how to approach this? Online course recommendations are fine. Physical curriculum is OK, but there's a lack of Go teachers in my area so it'd have to be something a 25k player (a friend of mine) could teach to them. It seems that the online teachers prefer older students at the 20k+ level, so it doesn't seem as easy as just hiring one of the online teachers.
I bought the first Level Up book, but haven't seen it yet. Is that a reasonable start for a "class"? (Their school year begins Jan 15.)

I like these books and I use them as inspiration for teaching beginnersI bought the first Level Up book, but haven't seen it yet. Is that a reasonable start for a "class"? (Their school year begins Jan 15.)

Re: Courses for kids
you might check out the tiger's mouth forum. Its run by the AGA's youth director, and they have a private room on KGS where the kids can play games with each other.

There is 321go.org. Look for the English flag if the site shows up in Dutch. There are problems in 6 books under 321Go - course. The books also have introduction sections with theory. Registered users get a kyu rating.

The updated and categorized page for ongoing lessons is:Milkman wrote:This gives a lot of helpful information:
http://www.usgo.org/instructional-methods-and-materials
http://www.usgo.org/classrooms-or-groups
There is a wealth of information on the AGA site.
There is also a separate page for one-time presentations or lessons:
http://www.usgo.org/presentations
And of course lots of handouts and posters:
http://www.usgo.org/publicity
And more on history and culture:
http://www.usgo.org/history-and-culture
And even more on scholarly research:
http://www.usgo.org/scholarly-research
And just for fun:
http://www.usgo.org/go-links
For absolute beginners:
http://www.usgo.org/learn-play
And a whole bunch of resources for further learning:
http://www.usgo.org/learn-overview
These are just starting points, but represent a huge amount of information. As I'm sure you know, go in the classroom can be lot more than just a game.
Good luck and (especially) have fun!

Greetings, Tom
They had problems for a couple of weeks with their provider, it is back again, and all your progress data is still there.

That is the URL I used, and I just clicked your link again, to no avail. Seems to load forever, then Chrome tells me “This webpage is not available”.LuckyJim wrote:Bonobo wrote:So … have you actually tried to connect? Site does NOT load for me. This is odd. The rest of the net seems to work fine for me.
