Sometimes I imagine a game of go in my head. I thought about how sometimes my worded thoughts are ambiguous, but I still know what I'm thinking and can clearly see the game. I wondered if, given semi-ambiguous plays for the first few moves, what kinds of games would others play? I would like to see these games for myself.
Envision this game in your mind. Then create a diagram of the first ten moves. Finally, post it here hidden (so that your game doesn't influence others.)
Here is the game:
1. Black takes a corner
2. White takes a corner
3. Black takes a corner
4. White approaches now
5. Black backs off
6. White takes the last corner
7. Black approaches
8. White pincers
9. Black comes out
10. White helps his corner stone

Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).
why would approach instead of playing in the last empty corner ?
I suppose that's because he think is move is sente and that black wil reply to it before taking the last corner (and that's what happend in the given scenario)
So the question is now : why did black "backs off" instead of taking the last corner...

This is why people will frequently ignore 3-4 approaches in the opening to take empty corners or approach a 4-4 stone, but will usually reply to a 4-4 approach.
That why I choose hoshi for for my scenario... (not telling any thing else is wrong of course, just my two cents guess)
I was originally thinking of something much like this, but with 2 on the hoshi, so I couldn't get it to make sense to me immediately and ended up changing it until it made more sense. It was the 'back's off' for 5 that got me confused.
