Uhm, didn’t you post this in “Announcements” already? Why a second, identical very similar thread opening in this forum? Double posts are not nice and also counter productive b/c they split our attention.

Also, nevermind how good your app may be, IMNSHO the claim “best iOS app” is a bit boastful when there are quite a few other very nice iOS apps which are also discussed here (SmartGo Kifu, EasyGo, etc.)

Like with books <cough>, I for one prefer the author/developer to explain/show their features instead of saying “mine is the biggest, buy me”. Yes, you list features, but “best” goes over the top for me, your users can and will come up with their own judgements. And you don’t want to be perceived as a spammer, do you?

Just my opinion.

Oh, sorry about it.
Just discovered that it would be more related to post in this section as it is for computer go. Didn't find a way to cross ref or move that from announcement.

Best is just like what iPhone claims itself when it is out.

The features in this app (book curling view, image recognition, etc.) are the first time (innovative) ways for displaying go. And the UI is much superior than all existing apps including those look once very nice.

Sorry again about posting duplicate post. Maybe I just delete the previous one in announcement as it is not targeting at the right audience. Thanks for the reminder.

All apps that access the internet carry this warning (except the apple device itself! AFAIK).

I had appealed this to Apple and got this answer:

"We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback on the review guidelines. We understand that you don't agree with the 17+ rating for unfiltered internet access. We have forwarded it to the appropriate team who will investigate and follow up as needed.

Thank you for your commitment to iOS development."

I have already bought SmartGo Kifu for my iPad. Why would I want to invest another 20 for this app?

(This is a dead honest question. I look around YouTube for videos of people using this but found nothing. I’m pretty happy with SmartGo Kifu app, so I’m wounding if GoEye has anything that might be worth 20 dollars.)

I like SmartGo Kifu a bit better, but GoEye is not that bad, either. SmartGo Kifu comes with a set of pro games, whereas GoEye has integration with sites like Go4Go and Flygo.net.

Viewing experience is pretty similar between the two, but GoEye includes a nice PDF view that makes the SGF look like you're reading diagrams in a book.

Since GoEye doesn't have a set of SGFs built in, and relies on integration with external websites, it's a bit easier to stay up to date with the most recent games.

( Sorry, didn't notice the OP was dated 2012... :blackeye:
But my assessment below still stands, for 2012 or 2018. )

Congrats on the software. However,

Sorry, based on the first screenshot at the app store,
I find the board and stones very ugly.

The board and stones are not only not 1-gen ahead,
I feel they're about 10+ years behind --
even IGS's client's board and stones from the early 2000's look much better.

If you charge people US$19.99 for a Go app,
it seems obvious you should've hired good-level graphics designers.
(Apparently not the case here.)
The board and stones are very ugly, IMO:

That is your feelings and I cannot change. But many users accept it as the best, which you cannot change either :)

Opinions are opinions. For the sake of information, here is a comparison between a few popular apps (on iOS):

EasyGo:

SmartGo:

Personally, my favorite aspect of GoEye is the pdf view.

I'm open minded: happy to change my evaluation if you improve the board and stones.

But is good taste teachable ? ( NY Times article, Oct 4, 2017 )
Tougher question to crack.

Not to far off from SmartGo book view. Looks like GoEye has more of a printed book look. So far they seem the same.

My favorite feature of SmartGo is the search feature. I can find pro games that have same pusition in my own games. Doesn’t look like GoEye has that. (Sound like I can only do a board search for my own games.)

Good point. SmartGo has book view in color, whereas GoEye has in black and white.

Which looks better depends on preference, I guess.
