OC, the ko threat situation matters, but is normally not best because can make an eye, and then can only make seki in gote.

Ah, I see. Here gote or sente were already gone, so not a big issue. I was aware of 8-in-the-corner being "something," but since I wasn't sure if it was ko or seki, I didn't even bother to check as I was already way ahead. But handy to refresh it for the future

Yup, endgame position actually. This is a game between Go Seigen and Miyamoto Naoki, supposedly played to decide correct komi for 9x9. They alternated between B and W, and both won as black by 4 points.

I'm thinking about this position again.

White plays the dame to put the black group in atari and black takes the ko. White, not wanting to lose any points, passes as his ko threat. If black passes, does the game end or does white retake the ko?

I'm thinking about this position again.

I expect that the game was played under the Japanese '49 rules, which did not allow an unresolved ko to remain on the board at the end of the game. So Black had to capture the White stones.

The situation is more complicated under the '89 rules, but the result should be the same, I think.

Yup, the album on NGAs Facebook page is from my pics (will enlarge it with more from others when some participants are done with the EGC.)

The recap post for the web is also done and waiting for Namii's fact checking, when it's done I'll write my personal account (which is similar, sure, but also explains some stuff I did personally )

Then how does the '49 rules deal with double ko seki?
