Toshi1011[5d] vs. Commander[4d]

Post by Commander »

This was a really good game that I feel really glad about, I lost this game because of some endgame mistakes, I played toshi a few times and only beat him once, any feedback is welcome.

Your lower left corner felt rather ungainly. I would have played 11 at C14.

Hello,

Not strong enough to comment but I was wondering about the 31-32 exchange. Doesn't the 31-32 make white two stones stronger while black doesn't get much out of 31?

The direction I played at 11 was more lively and plans to push the w splitting stone and then play a hoshi or something, your direction doesn't have any plan for b's idea when he played the high shimari instead of the normal low one, as for 31-32, w stones are still light, attacking directly won't gain much so building a moyou while applying pressure feels to me like the right direction

How about playing the hane at 1 below instead of capturing four stones with "a"? It seems more active. There is still a lot unsettled in the center. In the game "a" seemed passive.

Edit: BTW, 3 seconds used for "a" in the game! :-)

Yeah seems right, like I said this game was lost in the endgame and I had a few chances to win, my mistake was not counting to know it was this close and taking my time in yose.
