Looking for 1st game of the 6th Oza final (1958)

Post by fanfan »

Hello,

I am looking for the 1st game of the 6th Oza final between Fujisawa Hosai and Handa Dogen. Approximative date is september or october 1958.

Does someone know if the game was played?

Any information is welcome.

Did you try Go4Go or GoGoD? If it's not in those databases, there is a decent chance it was not played.

It's in neither of them. I just checked, and the two games from the final were won by Fujisawa, so at least we know Fujisawa had very likely won the first one, likely by forfait (we can assume, this, given the previous talk about forfeit games in tournaments in GoGoD)

GoGoD's 1959-01-00b is probably what fanfan was looking for. That's a very shortened version of the game. The date was apparently not correctly documented in the original source.

No, not quite. The game was played on 1958-10-10,11 at Hagoromo-so, Sakai, and the result was W+R. Hosai won.

We do have a large reserve at GoGoD that has yet to show up in the database.
