Any Players in Pike County Kentucky

Post by Kokumura »

I've decided not to make a go club yet, just wanting to see how many players are in my local area before I even attempt

If I recall correctly Pike county is in eastern KY. I would be very surprised if there were any other players there. In the days before the internet I had to take two separate three-year breaks from the game when I lived in such remote locations.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Well, taking Pikeville as your starting point, the nearest AGA clubs are a little far.

Maybe you can find people by posting messages on bulletin boards (the actual physical kind with pinned bits of paper) but a rural, remote area is just about the worst place to expect lots of go players.

Don't expect to find a lot of people, though. It's a pretty rare hobby, around 1 out of 50000 to 100000 people seem to play it.

The pinned bits of paper idea was a loss a year ago, so I thought posting here would be a bit easier of a target

Yeah, small towns are not good for uncommon interests.

I would probably die without internet and mail order to keep me a little connected.
