Music for playing Go?
Anyone have any favorite music to listen to while playing Go? I usually like to play in silence, however, occasionally I'll put on some classical when playing over the internet. Does anyone know of any particular pieces of music that they find to compliment the nature of the game?
Thinking like a go player during a game of chess is like bringing a knife to a gun-fight. Thinking like a chess player during a game of go feels like getting knifed while you're holding a gun...

Soda stereo, especially the albums "Canción Animal" and "Sueño Stereo ". Enjoy.

I wish I could say Spike Jones.
But I have heard that music like the Pachelbel Canon, with a tempo of about one beat per second, is good for relaxation and concentration.
Never tried it myself. I would consider it rude to wear headphones in a FTF game, for instance.

Re: Music for playing Go?
I don’t usually listen to music while playing Go, but when I do, it sometimes is The Three Friends of Winter or some of the other sound generators. A few are only available for donators, like the truly amazing Zen Garden, but there are many other free sounds/soundscapes you might enjoy. Try one of the many forest or rain themes for example, or the Cat Purr. Railcar Noise? It’s there. Demolition Site for the Rammstein fans? Positive. Oh, and I absolutely love the Tibetan Choir. Sometimes I combine Thunder, Rain, and the Tibetan Choir but then again I’m addicted to sensory input.

Usually silence, but occasionally I'm in the mood for a bit of Bach while playing.

Usually silence, but if I were to put music while playing go (though to be honest, I would be more likely to do so while replaying over a game or something) it would likely be classical music (Rachmaninov being a favourite of mine, it would in all likelihood be that. Though Bach or Beethoven are possible too).
Alternatively, something, anything really, played on the piano which I enjoy the tune

Re: Music for playing Go?
Usually silence, but for most of my life I have been able to do most kind of work while listening to any kind of music I enjoy. Only thing I usually (and not always) avoid is writing something in the same language I am listening, to avoid "word bleeding." But usually it's only an issue with Spanish-Spanish or Catalan-Catalan, I guess I can still shut down the listening/writing parts when in English mode.

Hi,
I'd choose Dizzi Dulcimer. It's a nice background music that is not distracting : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9HnRZlMiKQ

Re: Music for playing Go?
I usually listen to music actively, and I also tune pretty much everything out when I play go. So listening to music while I play would either distract me from the game because I am paying too close attention to the music, or I wouldn't even notice that the music was on.

I was going to post the same, except that I was going to suggest it is the perfect length for a blitz game on KGS.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Silence, but if I did listen to anything it would be the Hikaru no Go soundtrack.
