Very beginner question
I'm an absolute beginner with no ranking. I know no joseki. I played my 2nd online match today and lost, naturally. I was white. Can anyone tell me what I should have done after black made his move as indicated in the attached screenshot?

Re: Very beginner question
There are many moves you can play. The most simple one is just to play in the largest area, which is the bottom, on the star point or one below(which is more common because it is better for taking territory). You can also approach any of the corners, or the stone just played on the top side.

You may enjoy playing on the 9x9 board.
It is not any less confusing, but the games are short and there is a lot to learn, especially tactically.

Hi,
This tool is very nice to edit diagram :
http://hiddema.nl/diagrammer/
you just need to past the diagram text between a "go" tag like that :
and that will give you that result :
I'm not sure I can answer your original question... but I think I will try to extend from the marked stone... maybe at 'a'
or maybe play at 'b'... I don't think there is a simgle answer so early in the game...
