Review on my loss (15k vs 14k)

Post by Wellington Henrique »

Hi, can someone please review this game?

I play Go for about a month or two and everything was going fine, i was getting better but now i'm stucked at 15k for about 2 weeks and just can't seem to pass that. I become 14k sometimes but not much after i fall to 15k again.

This is my first time posting here and will be my first game to be reviewed.

Thanks.

P.S: Sorry for the bad English, not my first language.

Hi Wellington, welcome. :)

Some moves and mistakes are more important than others.
:study: <-- This symbol means interesting to study. :)

:w6: Interesting... maybe just D5 is simple and good.

:w8: Solid is fine, but maybe you can jump to E6 -- get ahead faster.

:w20: :study: Good. Basic shape.

:w24: A bit strange. Both this move and 1 higher, at R6, will help Black's lower right corner. Maybe just P9 is better.

:w28:, :w30: Did you consider just P7 instead ? :)

:w30: Not very good shape. Do you see you still have a weakness at S8 ?

:w32: :study: :study: First bad move by White. At least you can hane Q7 -- why did you reject Q7 ? :)
Study your shape here for a moment -- if B plays S8, do you see you are dead, locally ? :)
This means your last two moves, :w30: and :w32: , are not efficient, not correct -- you still have a dead shape here.

:w38: Good follow-up after :w36: push.

:w42: :study: You missed something. Can you find a better local sequence?

:black: 103 :study: Bad habit. Just connect at P18 is better.

End of notes. :)

You are just starting out. You don't know what will work or not. You need to experiment, to try things out and discover what works and why. :)

Were you able to see this far? OC, the fight is not over yet, but what are the prospects? How many dame do the White stone have? How many do the Black stones have? Also, White has help from the :wc: stone, while Black has help from the :bc: stone. Which stone is better for the fight?

Apparently, White has the advantage in the fight. That is quite enough to give it a try. :D
