What are the dates of the 2016 American GO Congress?

What are your ideas to reach out in Boston to increase the Visibility of GO and get more people playing? I am thinking that it would be smart to try to reach out to potential players ahead of time and try to generate interest and players. Any thoughts?

I could find nothing on the AGA website about the 2016 GO congress. I think it would be good to have a page up or at least a banner with dates, location, on the GO congress page that discusses 2015.

The sooner the word gets out the better. : )

Actually Houston would be more doable for me than Boston. So do u have a GO club there or are u a lonely only?

There's a secret to getting a go congress to happen in your city, or a city near you. I've hidden it so it doesn't get out too much.

You put together a team and a proposal, and you pitch it to the AGA board.

This is a lot of work, and should probably start 2 years before you expect the congress to occur. There's a lot of organization required. There's a lot of unpaid labour, both from the principal organizers and from other volunteers. You will need enough people who can volunteer locally to support the congress as well. Contacting someone who has done it before to find out what you need to do is probably a good first step. They should be very helpful, if only so as not to have to host one again themselves.

Honestly, there aren't a lot of places that put together proposals, and most years there's only one. If you can get all your ducks in a row, it will probably be accepted unanimously. Then you will work your butt off for the next year getting it ready, and twice that during the congress itself.

But at least everyone will be thankful for it. First that you put it together for them, and second that they didn't have to do it themselves.

I did note that if you have enough people to "work" on it you can make it happen. Like I have said before a large THANK YOU, to all those who work so hard for GO in the West. We know you do it for the money and fame. ; )
