Thanks Ed for the heads up, looks entertaining if not always accurate. But it is a movie its about entertainment. And hopefully it will increase interest at least a little in Chess. Alas it only shows one hour from here.

Also, I believe I could have written "the book" Get strong in Gote. I always smile when I see that cover.

Incidentally, the Portland GO club has had some success in promoting GO by sponsoring a GO and Chess Club combo in schools.

Just to clarify, I live close to Portland only 4hrs away, (northwest distances are different) but that is not my club, I can take no credit. But a hat tip to their fine work!

Somehow that sounds a bit relativistic. :)

Maybe you're closer to the Seattle Go center ?

Actually Portland is 4 hours and though I live in the same state, Seattle is just over 4hours.

Sadly I have never been to either club. I would love an excursion to Seattle, again with a visit to their open game night and of course a Kyu class with the famous/infamous Nick.

Seattle and Portland are both great cities with so much to offer.

If you or any of our L19ers are ever in the area let me know, we can get a game, a meal and a refreshing cool beverage.

Oh yes distances in the NW are "relativistic". Unless you live in Seattle or Portland, where you measure distance in time, such as at rush hour it will take you an hour to go 10 miles from point A to B.

And you could meet me!

If you ever come to Seattle, I'd be happy to meet you.

Similarly, travel times in Los Angeles are often (by that I mean daily) "undefined" (divide by zero).
