How to protect my stone ?
Hi,
This is my first topic on that forum, but I read it for several month.
I played recently a 9*9 game that I lost (I was white), because I wasn't able to protect my stone played in the 4th move. I wanted to see what I had to play to keep my stone alive!

Re: How to protect my stone ?
The mistake was to cut with move 16. The corner is not alive but it has miai of this cut and the 2-2 point to live. (The cut does not guarantee life but it is hard to imagine it dying.) So there is not rush to play at the top. It is more immportant to protect the single stone at the lower left before it gets completely surrounded. After all, it is get completely cut off there is not a lot of room to manouver.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).
