I regret to announce the death of Phil Younger, a dan-level player here in southern California. He was not only a skilled go player, but also a professional competitor in several video games, holding the world record for at least one of them.
I haven't been in touch with Phil or his family recently, so I don't know the details, but the last time that I talked to him - in 2013, I think - he had a skin cancer that had spread, but he said the docs had told him was treatable.
