AGA Starter Kits.

Post by DrStraw »

I have nine AGA starter kits which I have had for over 20 years. I used to use them when I taught beginner classes regularly. I am not likely to ever use them again so I am offering to give them away. They weigh less than 1.5 pounds each so mailing costs should not be too expensive. If you run a go club which regularly teaches beginners and are interested in these let me know. All I ask is that you pay the postage costs. I will probably have to restrict the offer to mailing within the USA.

Each kit contains a 9x9 cardboard board, plastic stones in cloth bags and a copy of the AGA publication The Way To Go by Karl Baker. It also contains an old 3.5 inch disk with software but that is probably unusable now. Tells you how old they are though.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

If no one else is interested, I'd love to have the starter kits. I don't currently run a club and would be happy to defer to anyone who does, but I've been trying to think of a way to introduce Go to some of the students at the community college where I teach. It would be easier to advertise an event if I knew I had sufficient supplies for anyone who might show up. :-)

(I've got at least one hopeful avenue for recruitment: I recently found out that there is a Japanese club at the school, so I plan to reach out to the club advisor to see if the involved students would be interested in learning the game.)

Someone has asked for them and will take them all. But by the sound of it he does not need them all. Why not send a PM to cmhobbs and negogiate between you for how many. He has first claim if he wants them all.

I will close this offer and the two (or one of you) can have them all.
