I'd say Black was quite a bit ahead when he ran out of time.

White 8 is an unusual choice. O3/N3 versus the usual P3/O3 is too nice for Black. It seems to me that 17 should be at R7, threatening S4. Black disrupts the right side and White achieves very little.

What are some alternatives? Not sure about :b29: but I really like :b7: and :b23:.

:b7: at R7, :b23: at C17. Black gets a double-wing formation but not much else from the opening. It is possible instead to play for overall balance and to prevent the white 4-4 point having a broad development.

ez4u move 17 at R7 is outstanding. thanks ill try to look for this kind of idea from now on
