Hey there from Oklahoma City

Post by Grizaptimus »

A couple of weeks ago I became aware of the AlphaGo vs Lee Sedol matches. Watched some of the 15min commentaries and understood absolutely none of it. However it did pique my interest in the game itself. I have been watching many of the fine videos that are on youtube, and they have been very interesting even though I still really don't understand much. I found this place a few days ago and figures I would say hello. Does anyone know if there are any groups around the OKC area that play?

Welcome :)

check the American Go Association’s “Where to Play Go” page that lists Go clubs which have registered with them: http://www.usgo.org/where-play-go?state=OK#listing.

I’m sure, though, that some will reply here who can tell you more.

There are a few posts scattered around this forum for OK go groups. Type Oklahoma in the search box and you should find them. I know there is an active group in the OKC area.
Still officially AGA 5d but I play so irregularly these days that I am probably only 3d or 4d over the board (but hopefully still 5d in terms of knowledge, theory and the ability to contribute).

Go is a great game, but be careful - don't be like that one guy who played so much he forgot his wife's name.

Howdy and Welcome!

Hope you enjoy the game and find it a life long challenge and source of enrichment.

Once when I was in Tulsa I played at TU. But that does not help for OKC. But this might.

May all your moves be Sente.

We play because we enjoy the beauty of the game, the snap and feel of real stones, and meeting interesting people. Hope to see ya there! お願いします!
