Thanks, Ed. :) I used to write taichi, but switched to taiji. I thought that taiqi might be a different romanization.

IIUC, some meanings of 氣 are close to prana in yoga.

Japanese: 気 ki. 天気 tenki, the weather.
気合 kiai. 合気 aiki. 合気道 aikidō.
火気 kaki, fire. 水気 mizuke, moisture.
元気 genki, fine ; healthy.
元気ですか genki desu ka how are you
気をつけて ki o tsu ke te, be careful ; take care of yourself.
