Unfortunately Blackie (Kim Seungjun 9p) lost to Wang Haoyang 6p. After an AlphaGo shimari he went for a big central moyo and things seemed to be going okay until Wang's group he was attacking ended up killing his wall (I think he could have safely captured the tail but misread and tried to kill all of it). That game and the others were recorded for broadcast by the visiting BIBA troupe as the scheduled game recorders didn't turn up. Youngster Shin Minjun 5p beat legend Lee Changho 9p with 3-3 on move 6, Shi Yue 9p beat Yun ChanHee 7p (who also played AG-style early 3-3 and then wedge the side, living giving Shi thickness which made for hard fighting on the other side of the board where he died, and Hu Yaoyu 8p beat Hong Minpyo 9p in a more traditional game.

I found Won Seongjin's game against Wu Guanga rather interesting. Won is known for normally playing a thick and influence-oriented style with a powerful punch but in this game he (playing white) made territories and Wu had centre-potential (though I suppose you could say his territories were thick and thus he was able to freely start centre activities). The second round is in the books for all groups. Of the 152 players left, 54 are from China, 4 from Chinese Taipei, 2 from Japan (both in the senior group), 84 from Korea, and 8 from the world group. For Japanese players in the open groups I thought Ida Atsushi 8p had the best chance to advance but he lost to Kim Namhoon 1p.
Uberdude posted earlier that Ryan Li lost to Victor Chow of South Africa in the world group. Here is the match up for next round:

Dad Komatsu Hideki won both rounds but the son Komatsu Daiki lost in the first round.
Round 3 will be played tomorrow July 1st.

Komatsu Hideki continues to win today, by a big margin. It seems that he is always a strong contender for the senior group over the past few years! Both Yu Bin and Seo Bongsoo are not in his group, so IMO he could be the favourite to qualify for his group.

Third round is done. Biggest upset is probably Mi Yuting's loss to Hwang Jaeyeon 4p. Newly minted Chunlan Cup champion Tan Xiao also lost to Xue Guanhua 2p. Another world champion Jiang Weijie lost too, but maybe not as surprisingly, because his opponent is 17 year old Zhao Chenyu 5p, who is quite comfortable facing world champions. Zhao 5p plays for Team Jiangsu in the A-League. After beating world champion Shi Yue in the first round of A-League this year, he was promoted to captain's position, and promptly beat Ke Jie and Zhou Ruiyang in the next two rounds. It will be interesting to see how far he can go in this tournament.

Yes I think he has a good chance too. He will play Kim Kihun next. The semi-final round saw several world champions gone for both China and Korea. In the key match ups Lian Xiao beat 2 time world champion Kang Dongyun while the reigning LG cup champion Dang Yifei lost to Weon Seongjin. Zhao Chenyu 5p continued his run to the main tournament by beating yet another world champion Paek Hongseok. Next up for Zhao 5p is aforementioned Weon Seongjin, 2011 Samsung Cup champion. Other world champions out of the tournament include Kim Jiseok and Gu Li.
In the world group Victor Chow beat another pro Eric Lui. He will play Mateusz Surma in the group final, who himself is also in good form after winning 4 in a row in last month's China C-League.
After 4 rounds, the count for the big 4 Go Associations is as follows: China 14, Korea 20, Japan 1, Chinese Taipei 1. 3 group finals are all Chinese affair, 6 group finals are between Koreans.

It seems Gorating isn't including the games from preliminary rounds because go4go database doesn't have them; somewhat unfortunate because these are real official games with matches against top level pros.

Final round is finished. In couple of key match ups, Zhou Ruiyang lost to Lee Donghoon, Choi Cheolhan lost to Gu Zihao. And Zhao Chenyu 5p beat Weon Seongjin, the third world champion he faced, to reach the main tournmanet. Fan Tingyu and Shi Yue also lost, which means no world champion qualified in the open groups.
