a salutory lesson for 10kyus

Post by djhbrown »

one thing you can't afford to be in Go is careless. here, black was well ahead (i think...) but due to overconfidence lost concentration in a simple combination that swept the carpet from under his feet and he came crashing to the ground.

What must black absolutely not do? Why?

What should black do instead?

Please do not answer if you are stronger than 10 kyu.

I am not stronger than 10 kyu, so I am qualified to answer.

1) Black must not play like this:

2) Black should play :b1: at :w2:

If my answer is wrong against a 10 kyu opponent, or against a stronger opponent, please let me know.

you're on the right track; dig a little deeper (ie wider); think about eyes.

talking of eyes, mine aren't as sharp as yours, so please can you make your next picture a little bigger?

I am not sure I understood your suggestion but here is another variation with eyes.
