Re: Review Request! :D
Hiya! Just reciewed up to move 150 ish
slightly odd, attaching in the corner is more normal
D15 seems better direction
both joseki mistakes, white should save the 3-3 possibility for later. Black shouldn't answer
White probably shouldn't tenuki here, that tiger's mouth is just asking to be attacked
connecting at K15 is better than this second line move
you don't have time to turn here, the white group is close to death now, luckily black doesn't follow through
-
wat is black doing
C8 is the weak point in White's shape, you are strong at the top so not such an issue but usually white extends to finish this joseki
-
a misread? Also the empty triangle is not good here...
White 118 - right idea to take Black's liberties but C2 would kill cleanly and avoid the ko
White 138 - this just doesn't work, you have to connect but it's sente at least!
I had a brief flick through the rest of the game and it looks like you turned it to your favour pretty well
I'd have said it could go either way at the mid point.
Three main observations:
1 - try to finish shapes in joseki, get yourself a base/jump out etc. Don't leave yourself open to attack when it's not necessary
2 - try to avoid 2nd line moves very early in the game, jumping out is almost always better in a cramped position
3 - Don't play so many empty triangles! 5% of the time they might be a tesuji but they should still be the last resort!
I hope that's helpful, I'm bored at work so would be happy to discuss it more if you have any questions

I don't know enough to offer anything you could use, but I will say it was a fun game to watch; lots of captures! I was rooting for you to find a way to take that large group in the upper-right corner.

Hi Glummie,
Locally, this exchange makes a bad shape for you: So even without looking at the rest of the board,
this exchange is already suspect.
( Re: HaneAtTheHeadOfTwoStones )
You can of course decide to go against the proverb,
but you better make sure you have good reasons for it,
and that the result works for you.
Here, for example, this cut doesn't work for White: There is a peep ( could be useful, say, as a ko threat ): Another local candidate:
