C[At no point during my reading do I notice the atari at 'A'. My brain totally ignored it and I was shocked when I saw white connecting here in one of Bill's variations. Even looking at it now, it doesn't seem to make an eye, so it seems not relevant. I'm hunting for something else. I also ignore strong or outside stones marked.
Every variation I show here I read and can visualize. If I was reading it out on a phone with a small screen and tiny stones, it might make it harder as I rely a bit being able see the stones that are on the board clearly.]

C[This looks interesting instantly to me. It's just recognition from having solved many problems. For follow-ups, 'B' is a double atari, and 'A' is an atari which black cannot connect due to shortage of liberties.]
LB[mq:A][oq:B];B[mr]
C[This just looks like the natural way to deal with white. If white plays a slow move, capturing at 'A' solves all of black's problems.]

C[Extending is like, the law. It allows stronger forcing moves later even if sacrificed. If black plays a slow move now, white ataris at 'A' and captures 'some' stones. I would have to grab my own hand to prevent it from playing here in a game. At this point I have no idea whether this works, but feel it has to be explored.]

C[Also no choice.];W[nr]
C[You want to try to reduce liberties, so throw-in is natural. I smell a dumpling cooking...]

C[No choice.];W[lr]
C[Free atari?];B[kq];W[oq];B[kr];W[nr];B[nq];W[pd]
C[Okay, so the capture is sente, but I have a feeling there should be something better. At this point I cheat and see if someone else has commented.]

(;W[mq]
C[It's important not to just play ataris. This is crude, but sometimes crude moves work so I did come back and look at this later.]
;B[ns]LB[lr:A][oq:B]
C[Now we see ataris at 'A' and 'B'. I recognize 'A' as a free forcing move, but also consider saving it and playing 'B' first.]
(;W[oq]
C[So I actually read this first, but...]

C[Black can just make an eye. Although I could read further as shown I give up on this line.]
;W[lr];B[kq];W[ls];B[kr])
(;B[lr]
C[Also, I start to wonder what the instructions 'capture some stones' really means. Is capturing to stones in sente allowing a black recapture really a fabulous result for a go problem? Is it an endgame problem? In byoyomi, if I felt I was ahead, I would probably play like this to keep the aji low, even though it is inferior. This of course, assumes that I would get to this line at all, because a white descent at O1 is reflex. But maybe atari is older reflex and not completely gone.]
))
(;W[lr]
(;B[oq];W[kq]
C[Again, interpretation of the meaning of the probem becomes an issue. I only capture 1, not 'some' stones, but since this is a big gain for white, it should be considered a success.]

C[So white black connects. Now what?];W[oq]

C[I also considered if there is anything here, but only after being disappointed at getting only a two-stone sente capture in the other line.]
;B[mq]
C[But after this it doesn't look like there is anything for white.]))
