Looking for a jubango partner

Post by Ian Butler »

I was wondering if maybe someone was interested in playing a jubango (a series of 10 games) with me.

Basically it'd be great to get stronger, but also perhaps review the games together, and I think it's also nice to "know" your opponent when playing online, it's nicer than playing a complete stranger. If you play 10 games, it's a bit different.

We could decide handicap and change the handicap if it's not balanced. We'd also have to check our playing schedules, but of course there'd be no rush to complete the jubango, we have time.
I'm from Belgium, so time zone GMT+1
Playing schedule: free most evenings, weekend days.

Hope someone is interested :)

I might be interested. My playing schedule is mostly compatible with yours. I would prefer relatively long time settings, something like 1h main time + byo-yomi. I probably won't use that much time, as I tend to rush when playing online, but I don't want to run out of time. I think our levels are similar, so we could start with even (like Go Seigen vs. Kitani Minoru :) ).

That would be awesome!
I also prefer long time settings, and maybe if we both try to play calmly, neither of us will start to play blitz (something I'm prone to do in an online game)

If you want to do it, I'm totally game.
And maybe we could post the games (and possible review) here on Lifein19!

Great!
I'm happy someone (already 2, in this case) is up for it.
At the moment I'm PMing with both jlt and sybob. Hopefully I can play both :)

Some additional remarks about the possible jubango that I've proposed by PM:

Handicap change when one side is 3 games ahead.
Either player can stop the jubango at any time. Jubango may continue until one player has 6 wins, or just finish the 10 games.
Relatively long time settings. (I'd be using a real goban to lay out the stones. I wouldn't use it for variations, but to stop myself from speed-clicking)

I also think it'd be nice if the games would be posted on LifeIn19 (maybe we could make a seperate thread with the jubango games), potentially with review.
