Re: How to post SGF files
The instructions posted here work, but if you don't read them through and just try to go from memory/intuiting the way the UI works, it's a bit clunky. Here's the process I followed last time: I attach a file. There's an option to place inline. But that's the BBCode for an attachment. No URL.
Ok, I'll use "copy link" by right-clicking on the filename under "posted attachments"
Wait, that's invalid game data.
So now, I can preview, get the link, and attach it via an sgf tag.
Victory!!!
Oh yeah, there's an attachment with my post now. I don't like it cluttering up my post. It's not part of the BBCode markup of my post. If I try to delete it, I lose the file my sgf references
Code: Select all

Re: How to post SGF files
You can just host at gokifu.com or wherever you want and link to the sgf file in the sgf tags. It's more work so normally I don't bother to do it but it's an option if you don't want the attachments box.

For purposes of posterity, it seems better to host it on this site directly, so that the games aren't lost to the posts if the other site goes down.

this thread is really helpful.
But, you have to have an url from the KGS archives in the first place
You can upload the sgf file as an attachment, preview it, and then copy the URL for the link in the preview into your post to put it between the sgf tags. That way the file will be saved on the server here and be referenced correctly in your post, and you don't need to get the URL to the KGS archive or any other site.

[sgf]http://www.lifein19x19.com/forum/download/file.php?id=5595[/sgf]Would have worked. You need to preview your post and then copy the link from the attachement link that appears below the preview, not use the link that you get after you upload a file. If that makes sense.

Re: How to post SGF files
see Boidhre's post above.
...or you can open your SGF file in a text editor and copy/paste the contents in-between the \[SGF\] tags.

Re: How to post SGF files
Hello,
When I click "Add the file", I've got a message saying "Could not upload attachment to ./files/3963_2b41f2bb5b95ff62a21737e3bb7ac780.".
Is it just me ?

Re: How to post SGF files
No, it's not just you. It's been reported as a bug, but whoever fixes things around here seems to have disappeared some months ago. I'm not sure how you get the attention of the forum admins these days. See viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19035 (and other threads under viewforum.php?f=14 )
