Rumoured new book series on AlphaGo by Redmond and Garlock?

Post by xela »

By default, https://www.gobooks.com/index.html shows most recent books first, and there's been nothing new for a little while. But if you view by author and click on Michael Redmond, you get this teaser:

Currently there's no price, no publisher and no sample pages. So is this "coming soon"? (And I like the "Vol 1" bit of the cover: sounds promising!)

Oh, neat! I'd definitely be into this, when it's out.

I hope it goes into far more detail than Invisible: The Games of AlphaGo by Antti Tormanen. The book is fine, but I think there is so much more in these games than 3-4 pages can convey.

Neat, I was watching one of their older commentary video and they were talking about publishing a book my feeling was "I would buy it, but it's been two years, will this ever happen?". Apparently yes.

If they dedicate an entire volume to only the Lee Sedol match, I expect the commentaries will be fairly detailed. I certainly hope it will.

That ghost book is now gone from the website – spooky!

(Now I know how Apple feels when they inadvertently leak future products.)

Of course, you can still go to https://gobooks.com/books.pdf and maybe find something interesting there. E.g. you'll see that I've just released "Ke Jie vs Park Junghwan: The Battle to be Number One" by Yuan Zhou.
