Goban just delivered
Goban just delivered
The UPS guy just dropped off my new to me Goban. I absolutely love it. Its about 13cm thick. The grain looks pretty tight. The seller said its kaya. But I don't know. In any case I love this board. Check out the design on the star points. Each one has this metallic looking design. The lines are all slightly raised.

Well done. There are sometimes interesting stories that come with used go equipment, especially old and fine items. If you received nothing from the seller, make up your own, write it down so you can pass it on to your heirs or to another owner.

Cannot tell much from the closeup but I will guess the brown lines are a lacquer-base ink, probably applied with a pen nib or even a knife edge. The hoshi appears to be a dot of darker paint Or a thicker ink and it has dried leaving an uneven surface.
