Silly question

Post by ryanfromvisalia »

Hello!

I am in the process of gathering resources to teach my boys Go in our homeschool. We are learning together. I have a 9x9 that we will play for a while on, then graduate to the 13x13. Question: Should I mark off our floor Goban to 13x13 or should I purchase a separate board. I saw a shin kaya reversible 13x13 and 9x9 on YMI within budget. I just don’t know if there is any advantage/disadvantage for either way. May I have your thoughts?

Thanks!
Ryan

It's a good question. :)

I would ask the boys. As a headmaster of a boys' boarding school in England once observed, boys are always reasonable. :)

I would opt for the YMI 9x9/13/13 It is easily portable. Also it will not matter terribly if it gets scratched, dented, or has food or drink spilled on it.
