Park Junghwang defeated (B+R) Iyama Yuta today, and next he will play rest of Team China ( Ke Jie(9d), Fan Tingyu(9d), Mi Yuting(9d), Xie Erhao(9d) ). Next game should be tomorrow, most probably FGS will broadcast it (with FA evaluation as almost always).

Drama! Park ran out of time, apparently after some technical mouse fault. He had decent lead in early endgame at the time. Referee review ongoing. Let's hope they handle it better than the Transatlantic match.

It would be disaster for consistency of ruling, if Park would not be declared lost on time. All animals are equal, but some are more equals than others.

Replay clearly shows he clicked (several times) before the clock ran out: https://youtu.be/rqahsISlIXY

It looks like the ruling is a rematch tomorrow.

Given the reference to Animal Farm, and since a poor wee creature is in danger of getting the blame here, I think it is time to recall the sage lines of Rabbie Burns and blame the humans.

The following ultra-famous poem is in Scots and may give even our Dutch friends a hiccup or two, but my London-born grandson learnt this poem by heart along with the rest of his London school class when he was 11 and (a little bit to my surprise - I tested him) understood it, minus the odd daimen icker, perfectly). Which is more than can be said for the spellcheck here; offensive wiggle red lines all over the place. Note the clever way Burns slips in a verse in English.

To a Mouse
by Robert Burns

On Turning Her Up in Her Nest with the Plough,
November, 1785

Wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim’rous beastie,
O, what a panic’s in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Wi’ bickering brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee,
Wi’ murdering pattle!

I’m truly sorry Man’s dominion
Has broken Nature’s social union,
An’ justifies that ill opinion
Which makes thee startle
At me, thy poor, earth-born companion
An’ fellow-mortal!

I doubt na, whyles, but thou may thieve;
What then? poor beastie, thou maun live!
A daimen-icker in a thrave
‘S a sma’ request;
I’ll get a blessin wi’ the lave,
An’ never miss’t!

Thy wee-bit housie, too, in ruin!
Its silly wa’s the win’s are strewin!
An’ naething, now, to big a new ane,
O’ foggage green!
An’ bleak December’s win’s ensuing,
Baith snell an’ keen!

Thou saw the fields laid bare an’ waste,
An’ weary Winter comin fast,
An’ cozie here, beneath the blast,
Thou thought to dwell,
Till crash! the cruel coulter past
Out thro’ thy cell.

That wee bit heap o’ leaves and stibble,
Has cost thee monie a weary nibble!
Now thou’s turned out, for a’ thy trouble,
But house or hald,
To thole the Winter’s sleety dribble,
An’ cranreuch cauld!

But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best-laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

Still thou are blest, compared wi’ me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But Och! I backward cast my e’e,
On prospects drear!
An’ forward, tho’ I cannot see,
I guess an’ fear!

Consistency with that? The abysmal refereeing of the transatlantic match, in which the referee didn't turn up until ~8 hours after the incident? Or did Iyama or Mi lose on time due to a suspected technical malfunction? If the former I'm glad as important a tournament as the Nongshim cup with 'proper' professional players feels no need to be consistent with an amateur-hour debacle.

Well, my comment was partially sarcastic - in other thread i was told many times that it was only fair ruling possible, that this ruling is consistent with similar incidents from past (when i asked for example i was ignored, but who cares?) etc. I still stood on my opinion that game should be resumed as soon as technical problems are resolved.

Would it be a rematch if park wa's losing 90 %? They should have ironed out such cases before it happen. What if it happen again in rematch?

Thats very good point. What if Park would have totally lost position, lead of opponent would be irreversible? I think solution might be in case like Park now - treat his move like sealed move. When technical problems are solved, resume game, and reveal sealed move.

Getting to the final match for the first time in 4 years. Let's see if Park could replicate Lee Changho's effort back in 2005, or Nie Weiping's legendary performance in 1987.
