I like how Iyama takes his hand of the mouse when playing online and does the usual routine of making good expressions. It does seem healthy and he did win
Only if I had the game record.

Following Iyama Yuta . . . on the official twitter account that's just started. Long overdue but better late than never!

It's a lot like this topic so far, no msg from Iyama himself yet. Still it's appreciated that they didn't just make up a pretend tweet and were honest.google translate wrote:Please note that tweets by the person himself will be irregular.

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
I forgot to mention that Iyama Yuta is playing Yamashita Keigo in the first game of the S league today.
That's true. On the other hand, it is very high in sodium, thanks to very generous proportions of salt. I know how much you like to eat Go stones. Watch out! Glass stones are high in sodium and the shell stones are high in calcium, they will probably give you stomach cramps! The slate stones might seem healthy but they are way too big, larger than the white stones even, you may find it hard to pass them through. You may need surgery if they don't pass through. I heard that it's safe to eat some clay, even healthy, I never believe it. Probably better stick to noodles.Elom0 wrote:No msg like Nongshim Noodles

Yes, and Iyama won in his usual style: get a good position, put a dragon at risk, and win the game if you save it.kvasir wrote:I forgot to mention that Iyama Yuta is playing Yamashita Keigo in the first game of the S league today.

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
I don't know if it is the final position but the game was left open on Pandanet and had this position. I'm a but tired so I don't want to think too long about the capturing race but it looks to me like black could have around 16 outside liberties, I doubt white can make seki since black can make a big eye and white won't be able to remove those liberties before filling the shared liberties. I don't want to think about it right nowpajaro wrote:Yes, and Iyama won in his usual style: get a good position, put a dragon at risk, and win the game if you save it.kvasir wrote:I forgot to mention that Iyama Yuta is playing Yamashita Keigo in the first game of the S league today.

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
That's the final position.
Iyama made a good start in the league. Last year, let's remember, he only beat Murakawa Daisuke and Yo Seiki (who were demoted), and finished in 4th position. He was close to demotion too (would have been a shock). I think that his performance in the league and his defense of the last Honinbo as we know it will show his current shape. After this, his era will be over, or not.

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
I'm still an Iyama fan. The comment about Nongshim noodles above reminded me that Iyama is like my favorite noodles: ichiban 一番. At least to his fans.
I'm also glad to see Yamashita doing well overall.

My style is literally get a bad position, put your opponents dragon at risk, win if you kill it. Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
One could interpret Iyama's tweets to mean it was all an accident.
He appeared to say that
was too greedy and
was a good move that was a blind spot. This made it more difficult for him.
Instead, he tweeted (en: said) that he should simply live in the corner like this.
It's an amusing thought, that has occurred to me before, that Iyama's struggling dragons are all results of little things like this. I'm not sure if to call it 'oversights', it's not like it doesn't work out for him

Yes! I have seen things like this before, even in very important games, and I have thought (and written here), "did he not notice? wasn't he winning? is playing a gote move so unprofessional/forbidden/painful/human?"kvasir wrote:

I am a poor amateur player, and I usually think that perhaps, the game is closer than I think, and he can't really afford an slack-looking move. But when I see the result...
BTW, looks like there is little girl, a fan of Iyama, who has lost a few won games in the last times. Perhaps she is learning this too.

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
Okay, so I had my second 바둑 dream two nights ago, because before I went to bed I was thinking about why the 関西 reigon had so many good players, then I dreamt about 井山裕太 guest commenting a game . . . he was also playing live. Two 井山裕太's? Many 바둑 players are visual, but as an INFJ, even though I'd rather not be I am INFJ, I think of 바둑 conceptually, not visually. Darn it, I just dreamed for some reason I was playing a vietnamese lady who became pro, but she lost to me because she got distracted by 藤沢里菜先生's tweets? My perfect record now has two blemishes, I'm going to see if I can stay up tonight cause such dreams make me a bit anxious . . . But maybe it's a sign I should study 바둑 more seriously or something?

Re: Following Iyama Yuta (no world ranking discussions)
So, tomorrow (May 8th) is the first day of the last Honinbo as we know it. And Iyama is facing his 12th defense in a row, unless I am mistaken.
The challenger is Ichiriki, who seems to be in good shape, unless he faces Iyama.
This might be the last big Ichiyama match. And I think that Iyama is going to win again. Because it's the Honinbo, and he will pull every bit of energy he has. From now on, losing it would be like losing "a minor title" (nobody would really believe that, not form some years at least).

Iyama was winning his game in the Ranka Cup in China, but he lost right at the end . . . Tough luck . . .
