I hadn't seen this yet, but Kato Chie 3-dan qualified for the C league of the Kisei after 5 prelim games.
Although this year she will be the only member of the army, it's good to see that different women have made it these last years, and it's no longer a rarity. The level is rising.
Let's hope she can do well.

Re: Amazon army
First post about the Army in the post DOOM era.
The world Senko Cup was just held. In case you don't know, it's a Japanese tournament (4 players) with a player from China, Korea, Taiwan, and an amateur (winner of amateur Senko Cup of the year before). So it's called a world title. But to me... that sounds bleh...
The winner was Kim Eunji 9dan from Korea, who defeated Fujisawa Rina 7 dan from Japan. The game was closer than one might expect, because Kim is way higher in every rank. But Rina had her chances.
The other Japanese players were the Ueno sisters, and Kato Chie 4-dan. Good to see a new face in the top group.

Re: Amazon army
There is something new completely related to the Amazon Army and only to the Amazon Army. And that is the Japan female league.

The second edition is going on. There are 5 teams of 3 players each, Hikaru style. The system is round-robbin, 10 rounds (they switch colours). The nice thing is that teams have experienced and not so experienced players, so it's a good chance to play interesting games.
