I enjoyed the games. I think FoxeR is still being highly underrated. I do not think his builds are anything to laugh at. (The best showcase of this was FoxeR's double engineering bay build in Scrap station. Zergbong's baneling bust was so well timed, but it could have easily went in favor of FoxeR if ZergBong was just a few minutes late. It was an amazing game.) I think he effectively showed how well marines can do against various other builds. That's seriously tough to pull off. Whether that makes marines "OP" or not is hard to say, as he's giving up quite a lot for his style. The biggest issue is the "predictability" of his play. Still, it felt like he had an upper hand through the series, but eventually gave too many games away.

The final game especially was pretty awkward. FoxeR got 100% baited to pull that cheese(I mean wow, he did it AT LEAST two times before this attempt. Only the first game did it work, as the second time? it was pretty well held off(If I'm remembering this correctly, this was in jungle basin, and FoxeR got overaggressive even though he had pressure advantage.). It was seriously bizarre especially considering that attempt. If that consistent 14 hatch was a trap set by Zergbong from the start. That is definitely amazing. Too bad we'll probably never know more information on his last game. I doubt anyone will ask for that type of in-depth analysis of that series from him.

As an aside, I'm not sure if its disadvantageous to personify the units quite as much as I naturally seem to. I do it in go too. Stones always look lonely or happy or bored etc. In Sc2 small marine forces look eager and excited (especially when they stim) while large bio-balls look bored, regimented and thoughtless.

My units are disgusting little slime-balls. They deserve to die. Preferrably while taking lot's of enemies with them

So I just finished a PvP ladder game. At the start I said my usual "gl hf", and my opponent goes "wow what a coincidence". I wasn't sure what he was talking about since I didn't recognize the name. About 15 seconds later, he says he's Araban from L19! I was so distracted by my delight I accidentally put my first Gateway down at 12 instead of my usual 13. Anyway, the game was a quickie, not very interesting, unfortunately. But I just thought I'd share. He said that's not even his only secret account. How many hundreds did you spend on copies of the game, anyway, Araban, yeesh!

May have been the first L19 ladder encounter . Interesting you mention the 12 instead of 13 gateway, I did it at 14 instead of 13. For those wondering what happened in the game, I overplayed a bit by trying to take a wide-open nat on Delta Quadrant pretty early for a 1-gate FE to 5-gate play. I thought I could get away with it due to our cross-positioning, but alas this was not the case and I lost to what I think was a 3-gate 1-robo play, pretty standard. PvT may be my worst matchup, but PvP truly feels like something I understand the least. LAN results: I lost in the first round, as expected. It was super exciting, my opponent commented between games his heart was racing and he needed a moment to calm down. I felt it too, it was just so fun to be competing in a live tournament!

I had a good chance -- the brackets seemed to be random, and I had one of the very few platinum vs platinum matches, almost all 64 players were diamond. Here are the replays and a short description:

I went marine/marauder and an early expand. I got a great scan and saw his banshee build, so I was prepared and it did very little damage. I took the gold as my 3rd and then I decided to suicide my army a couple times (hehe), all the while assuming I was ahead because I had 3 bases including gold, but actually he had taken the non-gold 3rd, which I never bothered to scout

Similar start, me going marine/marauder and him going banshees, but this time I didn't scout it and it did more damage. Still I held it off and I had my 2nd up faster. I built some tanks this time and my first push almost killed his natural, but I was left with only marauders/tanks after the battle and he still had a banshee taking potshots as I retreated.
My macro really slipped so I made two CCs and a bunch of production buildings, but before they got up he brought a huge army and killed me.

They casted games so I turned into a spectator. Also they had some consoles so people would play Street Fighter 4, some FPS games, etc etc. They held some game related trivia contests, interviewed ZpuX and EGStrifeCro (this was after round 1, turns out they ended up playing in the finals!).

Also there were a couple people I know from Go there, so we played a few games.

Some people played more impromptu SC2 games, I had someone show me how to play SOTUS, which I decided was very boring

Hey we should hold our very own Swiss tournament! Like Tooveli mentioned most Go tournaments you don't get eliminated, so this would add our own flavor to the event. I could organize something on the NA server, say December 11 during US daytime. Anyone interested?
