The web site doesn't even say what platform it's for...

Really? If it isn't mentioned, perhaps it's Java, or Python, or something else that's cross-platform.

Re: My Go friend now available
Looks pretty, but 19 Euro seems a little steep for a 9x9 program. I usually buy commercial Go software, just to support the development, and at 10 Euro this would have been a purchase. Maybe it'll come down in price or extend its scope in the future.
But yes, the artwork for the stones is really neat!

Re: My Go friend now available
I ended up buying a copy a few weeks ago, since I quite like 9x9 and computers make good sparing partners on this board size.
They released a new update today that addresses some of the issues (and as a result is more customizable and stronger):
http://www.mygofriend.com/content/mygof ... -available
Code: Select all
* settings (for last komi, levels, board view) are automatically saved
* pass behaviour is much more natural
* clocks for the players
* new levels with time per game
* thinking on opponents time (pondering)
* better multithreading (=faster) especially under Windows XP
* better support of older Window versions
* detailed help
* much more convenient saving and loading of games
* stronger highlighting of the engines thinking process
* new menu for choice of language
* several minor bugfixes -> running much more stable
