Being a pro should not be a honorary title. Being a pro just means that you are currently voting a Labor Party. Nothing very honorary there.

But I do agree in your charactarisation of the Asian pro system. Why do we need to copy their titles if we change the system to gainb that title and undermine the logic behind it?

So I assume everyone still knows nothing? This doesn't bode well for the organization. I hope it does actually happen, but the structure might turn out better if they actually told us what's going on (if anything) and allowed people to contribute suggestions on how to organize it.

I'd be less worried about losing feedback. Not everything depends on the wisdom of forum posters.

But I would be worried about being taken seriously. This project seems to depend both on the actual activities of the players and the appearance that the league is thriving. Months and months of silence does nothing to get people to take the aspiring European professionals seriously.

As much as I would like, I obviously can't give a direct answer. My political views can best be described as classic liberal, so you can judge for yourself, why I would dislike such a thing.

And the lack of reports here and elsewhere probably means that not much happened in this direction as well. I mean if you are trying to establish such a league you can get sponsorship 1) because you generate a large enough public interesting for advertising etc. 2) as development effort (what the ING foundation did) - if you don't build that public you have no chance to establish something like this at all. The necessary sponsorship sum was 100k $ upwards per year, wasn't it? (Seems unlikely to get it as development effort and unlikely to raise that much by sponsorship either. Compare to the money companies spent for Go in the big three with hundreds of thousands or millions interested in the tournaments.)

I completely understand fear of communism. Yet, it has been abused too often (particularly, I feel, in Western/American media) to carelessly discard many pragmatic ideas just because they resemble socialism. I feel that it is not really fair to allow someone to propagate that fear here when the terms of service, perhaps justly, do not allow for a sensible reply.

Aside from that though, I think that posting "yikes, [insert political ideology here]" without explanation is little more than trolling, which is quite annoying in my view.
