ASR tournament february 2011 rules and registration

Oeh, I just read about the prizes and I like the idea of giving prizes to certain ranks that placed highest.
I'd like to give a teaching game to anyone that is 1 dan or weaker and placed the highest.

If more people do this, maybe it should be so that you can't win more than two of these prizes =)

Also, I'm 5d finally and I think Ima keep that rank

I placed myself at 1d now because I'm about there and have the strength to back it up. If not allowed, you can place me as 1k. Also, if someone's rank change before the tournament, will they need to re-register?

you dont have to re-register, i ask the players to give their approximate rank not their KGS rank:) if you +1 or -1 in the meantime its not a big deal since the tournament only pays attention to rank once:)

the end of the signup period is nearing and we're at 87 players now.

We will stop the signup at 96 players so we have 6 groups of 16 players for seeding and we can do the laid out format.
after 96 you can still sign up but youll be placed on the reserve list in case players drop out.

I just want to report.

thanks to ASR League, I just become 10k (KGS) about yesterday , but I feel my skill is still 11k , so u could change my rank there to be fair....

only 3 spots remain for the tournament and only 2 days until sign up closes. if the tournament has less then 96, some players in the first round will get a bye.

This tournament going to take place in February only, right? (I ask because I won't really be able to play Go in March, so I can't sign up if it will last that long.)

If it won't be in March, I hope I can get one of the last three slots!

every round lasts about 2 weeks and there are about 9 rounds so a full tournament lasts about 5 months. depending on when you are seeded in the tournament (low ranked players play earlier, high ranked players start later) you can calculate when youre about to play.

you are 6k that means you will be playing in the first round (we make groups of 16 players according to rank) and you are therefore within the 32 players that will kick off the tournament. if you lose in the first round you will play again in round 1 of the losers bracket in round 3 (first half of march)

we will make the tournament schedule soon and we will start on the 1st of february so watch this thread or the room message in the ASR!!

we need some reserves for players who drop out (i hope not though), so please sign up if you want to still have a chance in participating!
