I've been a lurker here (and previously GoDiscussions) for years, but only now felt like getting more involved. I've already made a few posts, but feel I should say hello properly.
I’m from England, and currently live in London.
I started to play Go over five years ago. I was hooked from the start and played a lot until I reached 3k KGS, at which point I found it hard to improve. Then, as I developed other interests, my drive to play Go evaporated, and I ended up taking a break for a couple of years. But I recently returned to the game with a vengeance, and I’m determined to pass this plateau I've been on for a while. The peaks ahead are in my sights!
Hobbywise, I also spin poi (and practice other skill toys), which provides another rabbit hole I can explore endlessly. I'm also very interested in music, nature, science, language, and art.
I studied Mandarin at university and lived in Taiwan for six years, where I amassed a nice library of cheap Chinese go books. Now if I can just get round to really working through them a bit more, I might actually become a dan player one day!
I love teaching Go to beginners, and strongly feel the game deserves to more widely played around the world.
OK enough about me - see you all round!

I'm nowhere near your level in Go or Mandarin, but share both interests. I live in Oxford and am often down in London for talks or meetings (or just to raid Guanghwa in Chinatown in the hope that I'll magically be able to read some of it). Maybe we can meet up for a game at some point.
