Hi all:)
it's a game on KGS against someone without rank, but who turned to be approximately 4k, and so around 4 or 5 stones stronger than me. I lost of course, and, what's worse, I lost probably in the 100 first moves, without really knowing when.
So, of course I appréeciate any comment, but if you could, among all mistakes commited, point the three biggest, likely in the opening, I could localize biggest weaknesses in my game.
Thanks by advance (is it english ?)
By the way, I was white.

Re: an unbalanced game on KGS
I have done a video review for you...unfortunately, it tipped past 10:00 and I was too lazy to figure out how to splice it so that it could work on Youtube, so I just uploaded it on Rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/380700511/tryphon.mov.html
edit: Never mind, apparently the limit is 10:59 on Youtube...fortunately the video is 10:34
. So here's the Youtube video of it:
And here is the SGF where I cover the variations: http://eidogo.com/#13HSGriM
If you have any questions/remarks I made in the video, don't hesitate to ask.

In my opinion, W10, W12, and W52 are three of the worst moves in the early part of the game.Tryphon wrote:... point the three biggest ...

Re: an unbalanced game on KGS
Thanks for your comments to both of you. Sorry for the delay of the answer, but it took time for me to watch the video and try to understand (I have huge difficulties in understanding spoken english, and in speaking it myself).
I think I understood the main points. I was aware of the very bad beginning (W10 - 12). I knew it was bad when I played it, but thought at this time my opponent was DDK and that I was giving a teaching game (I realized after that I was the one being taught
).
But I didn't realize how bad were W52 and W100.
Thanks again

I love the video review! Hope to see more. The review comes alive in a way that's not easy to convey with just text.Araban wrote:...

Thanks, glad to hear that; actually I find it more enjoyable than replaying the game and typing out the review...just feels more natural to talk and more convenient too (now that I realize the mic inside the Macbook works just as well as the headset mic).CarlJung wrote:I love the video review! Re: an unbalanced game on KGS
Just one little observation: After W70, you have the ability to live by connecting at A7 (capturing three Black stones in a ladder). But maybe it was better to "run before living" anyway.

Re: an unbalanced game on KGS
I'm not sure I see the sequence you're mentionning. What I see if W A7 is that B can't A8, because then W takes 9 stones with A12. I don't remember if I had seen that during the game. Having this possibility in reserve, you're right, it would have been better for me not to flee with the central group but rather build the top one, I suppose.MountainGo wrote:Just one little observation: After W70, you have the ability to live by connecting at A7 (capturing three Black stones in a ladder). Thanks for the observation, if I had not seen that, I've really work to do, because I played A10 and C13 just to create such opportunities. Grrr
