Patience Techniques
Go is a game that pays off if you're patient. In my case, though, sometimes I want a fast win. I choose a path that lets me know the result quickly.
How do you train yourself to be patient?
Also, if you are behind in a game, how do you stay patient then?

Re: Patience Techniques
Meditation is peerless way to learn patience. Impatience is caused by your thoughts and becoming aware of them is the first step in conquering yourself. Sit still for 2 hours, without doing anything except watching your own thoughts. Can you already hear yourself saying: "but that's boring, no way I'm doing a stupid thing like that"?
When you start meditation, there's going to be further attacks.
"Useless", "I don't need to prove myself anything", "15 minutes / 1 hour is enough", "I'd rather do this fun thing like playing Go".
It proves that the enemy is truly within ourselves.

Completely agree that meditation is a good way therefor. But 2 hours is way too long. Let alone the fact that in modern life it's almost impossible to find daily 2 hours for that, it can even have negative side effects on your concentration. 15-20 minutes is in general the suggested amount of time for beginners.
I guess it is very very difficult to reach a level where you can follow your own thoughts without controlling or manipulating them. But you don't need to be a master to enjoy trying and it will certainly improve your patience and consciousness.
If you say no, Elwood and I will come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week.

attack your opponent only when you can kill them or you can get some points off that attack.
if you dont see definit way to attack then cover your weakness and wait for your chance.
if you attack when you shouldn't you lose some points and you will lose your chance to comeback.
it also works in pro level. lee changho only played defense and became #1.
IMO, it is not learning patience, it is more like learning to read better which appears to be patient.

I would much rather win an uncertain game than know I am going to lose. So, if by counting or just feeling, I judge I am slightly ahead, I am automatically motivated to not let that slip.
We don't know who we are; we don't know where we are.
Each of us woke up one moment and here we were in the darkness.
We're nameless things with no memory; no knowledge of what went before,
No understanding of what is now, no knowledge of what will be.

Re: Patience Techniques
Yes, but it sounded like you said you would rather quickly know the result (good or bad) then wait for the win. I don't want to jeopardize any chance I have at winning, so for the most part I try to stay patient and not start an all-in fight when I'm even slightly ahead.
