How long does it take for a player to rank up on IGS?

How long does it take for a player to rank up on IGS?

Hi, I'm wondering how many games does a player have to win on average to progress from 3d to 4d on IGS :?:

Hm, but the only numbers I see in my user info are 3d* 31. :S

If you use the "stats" command,
you should see a number after your 3d rank that's around 30,000.
If you are using the gIGo client, you can use Tools > My stats
to get the same user info for yourself.

The IGS system now uses ranks like {3d?, 3d, 3d+} rather than 3d*. If you see your rank as 3d*, you probably need to update your client program. Promotion to 3d (4d) occurs at rating 33800 (37300). This range (3500 points) corresponds to roughly 35 wins. Your rank would go from 3d to 3d+ roughly halfway through this range.

How/Where do I update my client?
